Athens PrintsPoster Design
Anticonsumerism is a series of eight social design posters, a personal exercise on consumerism, under the hashtags #againstcapitalism and #anticonsumerism. Each poster shows an object we are sold as a solution: shoes, a bag, a watch, a dress, a jacket, a phone, a car and glasses. The drawings are built from large glossy pixels, like plastic tiles, so the product looks shiny and fake at the same time. Underneath, one sentence cancels the promise of the advert: "New shoes won't take you any further", "A new watch doesn't schedule your moments of happiness", "New glasses don't make reality any prettier". The "don't" is always set in bold, and a mark made of an asterisk and an exclamation point changes colour on every poster, on a cream paper texture. The series was designed as social media posts.
A personal exercise, not a client brief: here the poster says something I believe in, without selling anything. I bring the same thinking to the posters, print and posts I design for businesses across Greece. If you want something similar, get in touch.
